Rev. Shaun J. Lee

Lead Pastor

Reverend Shaun J. Lee, a native of Brooklyn, NY, serves as the seventh pastor of the historic Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Rev. Lee graduated with honors from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he served as a chaplain assistant in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel. Upon graduating, he continued his education at Brooklyn College where he received his Master’s Degree in Education. Rev. Lee proceeded to teach in the New York City public school system for five years.

During his tenure as a teacher, he received the call to full time ministry. Understanding the importance and necessity of being a well trained minister, he attended Princeton Theological Seminary ultimately graduating with honors, receiving his Master’s of Divinity and a slew of various awards of distinction. The very day of his graduation – May 17, 2008 – Rev. Lee was asked to lead Mount Lebanon where he focuses on inspiring individuals to establish a true relationship with Christ, establishing a meaningful membership in God’s church and a concrete connection with the surrounding and global community. Reverend Lee firmly believes that the Word, Worship, and Work are central to advancing the Kingdom of God.

Reverend Lee’s leadership has led Mount Lebanon into becoming “A Ministry of Love,” that reaches beyond its walls to affect change. An active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Reverend Lee aims to connect with the un-churched through new and “out-of-the box” engagement. Staying in tune with his own personal passions of social justice, he instituted a monthly soup kitchen, an annual Back-to-School BBQ that provides more than 500 children with school supplies, a strong social media presence led by volunteers from the congregation and the Judges 19 Ministry, which focuses on helping victims of domestic abuse. Rev. Lee has also developed an unconventional Bible Study held at a neighborhood wine bar to create a space for those who may never enter a church to better understand and critically engage scripture.

This New York Knicks and Giants fan is also board member of Caleb’s Feet Foundation, a cervical cancer awareness organization, where he serves as the current community liaison. Reverend Lee delights in the nurture of his daughters Sian and Sanai.
